Review : Nokia Lumia 1320

This post is by my very good friend Raj Mehta. I’d like to thank him for this amazing post. Well, the review’s quite late I know it but being a new Blogger I don’t get an opportunity to get new phones. If any one of you can help me please contact. Here’s the Review on the Nokia Lumia 1320

This year, we saw the trend of large screen phones shoot up. The trend was first started by the Samsung Galaxy Mega. But this year came the Apple iPhone 6 Plus which features a 5.7″ screen and soon came the Google Nexus 6 which features a 5.92″ screen. Both being the flagships in their respective platforms, the trend has quite taken off this year. I cannot review these 2 flagships (for obvious reasons), but it was possible for me to review a similar trend phone, but of a different platform. I reviewed the Nokia Lumia 1320. I, being an ex-Windows Phone user, switched to Android due to various reasons such as the lack of apps, etc. But Windows Phone has its own set of pros which no other platform offers. So here is my first review of a Windows Phone- the Nokia Lumia 1320.

The Lumia 1320 is a large screen 4G smartphone featuring a 6″ screen. It is priced at ₹ 17700 on Flipkart. It is a mid-range Nokia smartphone and a budget version of the flagship Nokia Lumia 1520.
Specifications

Talking about specifications, it is actually a mid-range phone, so it features a 6″ 720×1280 screen. It has 1GB RAM. It is loaded with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor which makes it a no-flagship model. It also has a microSD which makes the memory expansion up to 64GB. The internal memory is 8GB. It has a Dual-core 1.7 GHz Krait 300 with an Adreno 305 GPU. 1320 also boasts a Sensors Accelerometer, proximity, compass which is common these days.

The Build

The build is a typical Nokia Lumia build with a soft touch back. It is very strong and sturdy. I dropped it a couple of times but nothing happened other than a minute dent on the boundary which is never seen normally. It has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which makes it one of the strongest screens on the market. The Lumia 1320’s dimensions are 164.2 x 85.9 x 9.8 mm, 125 cc (6.46 x 3.38 x 0.39 in) and its weight is 220 g (7.76 oz). It also boasts a 3.5mm headphone jack supported by Dolby.

Camera

Although being 5MP, the camera is one of the best in this range. It takes photos at 2592×1944 pixels. It takes videos at 1080p at 30fps. Being a budget smartphone, the secondary camera is just a VGA.
Battery

It boasts one of the largest batteries in the market. It is actually 3400mAh battery which is twice the size of the battery of Apple iPhone 6 Plus. That’s an achievement! I am normally out for about 8 hours and still lose about 15-20% in normal use. It has a music playback time of 98 hours. You should actually go for it if you hate charging your phone 2-3 times a day.

Review

I have been using this phone for quite a while now with Windows Phone 8.1 and I upgraded it with Preview for Developers. It is a neat OS usually used for business and for geeks looking for a refined OS. It actually is a very neat phone without any problems with it. It is just that it is a very under-rated phone and an under-rated OS. While traveling, many people in a bus or a metro actually ask me what this phone is and praise it a lot. The smoothness and the experience of this phone is awesome. And the big screen makes me use it like the whole day. I would actually prefer this over the iPhone 6 Plus (sorry Apple!)
